Full Biography
ASTA PAREDES is an award-winning actress and filmmaker celebrated for her fearless approach to genre storytelling. She first captivated audiences as the bold and unapologetic ‘Chrissy’ in Troma Entertainment’s cult-classics RETURN TO NUKE 'EM HIGH VOLUME 1 and RETURN TO RETURN TO NUKE 'EM HIGH AKA VOLUME 2, establishing herself as a formidable presence in subversive cinema. Her recent appearance in BLACKOUT, a visceral entry in Larry Fessenden's "Monsterverse" from Glass Eye Pix, further cemented her reputation for embracing the darker, edgier side of film.
Asta honed her craft at the University of Minnesota / Guthrie BFA Actor Training Program, refining her skills further at the Globe Theatre, the London International School for Performing Arts, and Upright Citizens Brigade. On stage, she’s taken on roles including the legendary 'Joan Baez' in the folk musical BOB MEETS BOB and the enigmatic 'Ursa Minor' in the dark comedy TINY DISASTERS. On screen, her other credits include THE CREEPER’S CURSE, EROS POINT, THE SHADOW SCARF, and SOCIOPATHIA. As a creator, she co-founded ABANDONED HOUSE PRODUCTIONS alongside her husband and frequent collaborator Clay von Carlowitz, and hosts the podcast series CHATTING WITH ASTA.
Additionally, Asta is a passionate advocate for representation in the entertainment industry. As a key member of LATINAS ACTING UP, a movement co-founded by Diana Maria Riva and Lisa Vidal, she actively champions the amplification of Latina voices in Hollywood, helping to lead the charge for greater inclusivity and authentic storytelling.
Combining her passion for genre films with a deep commitment to advocacy, Asta Paredes is a dynamic and influential force who works to boost stories that deserve to be told. She splits time between New York City and Los Angeles with her husband and their pet bunnies.
