Full Biography
"Meet Turkish beauty Deniz Akkaya, who holds the reins of 'Turkey's Next Top Model,' her country's equivalent of America's popular show hosted by Tyra Banks or Germany's version helmed by Heidi Klum. Born in Istanbul, Deniz first made waves in the modeling world by participating in prestigious contests like 'Elite Model Look' and 'Best Model of Turkey,' eventually claiming victory in 1997. Unlike many waif-thin models, Deniz stands out with her fuller figure and striking black hair. Simultaneously pursuing acting alongside her modeling career, she appeared in films such as the romantic comedy 'Green Light' (2002), the political drama 'Vizontele Tuuba' (2003), and the TV series 'Metro Palas,' before landing her hosting role on Turkey's version of ANTM in 2006. In a departure from her usual roles, Deniz showcased her acting prowess in the American film 'Living & Dying' (2007), starring alongside action legends Edward Furlong and Michael Madsen. Most recently, she starred in the comedy 'Hababam Sinifi Yaz Oyunlari' (2021). When not on screen, Deniz has created her own high-end children's clothing line, 'Chic Frog.' For a Thanksgiving wish, one might hope for a movie where Deniz Akkaya finds herself in a tender, loving, and proper romantic lead role."

Story
Claudia Acklin's complex and intelligent documentary examines the passionate life and turbulent times of Swiss television personality Andre Ratti, who caused a sensation on July 2nd 1985 with his statement to the media - "I'm 50 years old, I'm a homosexual and I've got AIDS." Raid's remarks were made to help launch the Swiss Association for Support to AIDS Sufferers and really rocked what many regard as one of the world's most blandly conservative societies. By admitting to being both homosexual and ill, Ratti was touching on two fundamental taboos sex and death. The very title to Acklin's film derives from her subject's comment "I like living, I like dying", which suggests at the very least, a contradictory character, prepared to voice more than one standard view on a given matter.
