Story
In the 1830s, Charles, a wealthy French venture capitalist and aristocratic assassin, becomes captivated by Madame Mathilde LeRoi while visiting his aunt. Determined to seduce her, he eventually finds himself falling in love instead of merely pursuing lust or political gain through their relationship. Meanwhile, one of his partners in crime and seduction, a decadent marquise, grows jealous of Charles's affection for Mathilde. The marquise sends Mathilde a forged letter intending to break the spell she holds over Charles, setting off a tragic chain of events.
