Story
Mrs. Van Houten exhibits erratic behavior, prompting her husband to consult Dr. Caligari about possible treatments. Dr. Caligari diagnoses Mrs. Van Houten with a 'disease of the libido' and begins experimental procedures involving electroshock therapy and hypothalamus injections at their suburban home. The staff at the facility grows uneasy with Dr. Caligari's methods, leading to calls for her removal. Meanwhile, Mrs. Van Houten's daughter and son-in-law attempt to intervene and put an end to Dr. Caligari's controversial experiments.
Summary
Set in suburban America, 'Dr. Caligari' is a surreal and unconventional horror film directed by Stephen Sayadian in 1989. The film blends avant-garde aesthetics with psychotronic elements, creating a bizarre and disturbing atmosphere centered around Dr. Caligari's unorthodox methods of treating mental illness. As the line between reality and illusion blurs, the characters struggle to differentiate between sanity and madness amidst the chaos.
