Born as Frida Liv Gustavsson on June 6, 1993, in Stockholm, Sweden, she grew up in the city's suburbs as the daughter of a teacher and a salesman. Before her rise to international fame, she was a dedicated athlete, competing as a runner and hurdler with dreams of the Olympics until a knee injury at age 14 shifted her path. Her journey into the spotlight began unexpectedly at age 12 when she was scouted by a modeling agent while shopping at an IKEA with her father.
Gustavsson quickly became one of the world's most successful supermodels, walking for elite fashion houses like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Christian Dior, and appearing in the 2012 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Despite her massive success in fashion, she transitioned to acting, landing her first major international role as Ma (Visenna) in Netflix’s The Witcher in 2019. She achieved global stardom starring as the fierce warrior Freydís Eiríksdóttir in the hit series Vikings: Valhalla (2022–2024).
