Story

In 'In the Hand of Dante', directed by Julian Schnabel, a centuries-old handwritten manuscript of Dante Alighieri's 'The Divine Comedy' makes its way from an unknown origin to a mob boss in New York City. The manuscript is eventually handed over to author Nick Tosches for authentication. Set against the backdrop of two distinct time periods - fourteenth century Italy during Dante's composition of his epic poem and autumn 2001 New York City post-9/11 - the film explores themes of authorship, power, and the enduring influence of literature on society.

Summary

'In the Hand of Dante', a forthcoming film set to release in 2025, is a unique blend of historical drama and contemporary intrigue. Directed by Julian Schnabel, this cinematic exploration centers around the fate of an original manuscript of 'The Divine Comedy', Dante's magnum opus. The narrative toggles between medieval Florence and modern-day New York City, drawing parallels between political power structures then and now. With its central premise revolving around literary authentication and the passage of such a seminal work through time, the film promises to delve into themes of artistic legacy, historical context, and the timeless relevance of classic literature.
