Full Biography

Born on July 3, 1979, in La Celle-Saint-Cloud, France, Ludivine Sagnier has established herself as one of the most versatile and captivating figures in contemporary European cinema. She began her acting career at the remarkably young age of eight, making her screen debut in Les Maris, les femmes, les amants (1989). Her formal training at the Versailles Conservatory of Dramatic Arts paved the way for her to become a frequent collaborator of director François Ozon, who cast her in pivotal early roles like Water Drops on Burning Rocks (2000) and the acclaimed musical murder mystery 8 Women (2002).

Sagnier achieved widespread international fame and was hailed by critics as a modern screen siren for her provocative performance in Ozon’s psychological thriller Swimming Pool (2003), where she played the enigmatic and uninhibited Julie opposite Charlotte Rampling. That same year, she demonstrated her range by portraying a wordless, mischievous Tinker Bell in the Hollywood adaptation of Peter Pan. Over the decades, she has garnered three César Award nominations and has seamlessly transitioned between high-stakes French dramas like A Secret (2007) and global television hits. Most recently, she has reached a new generation of viewers as Claire in the popular Netflix series Lupin and through her roles in English-language productions such as The Young Pope and The Serpent Queen.
